Germany Overview
Germany is a historical yet modern country, split into sharply defined regions. Each region maintains its distinctive character with its own dialect, traditional dress and foods. Along the Rhine and Moselle Rivers are picturesque castles and steep, terraced vineyards. From Frankfurt to Bremen runs a trail of villages that helped inspire the Grimm Brother’s fairy tales.
Food, beer, and wine – Experience traditional hearty dishes such as a plate full of sausages and dumplings. Beer is the national beverage and is a cultural phenomenon that must be adequately explored. Both the beer and wine are excellent and pretty cheap. Each region and brewery produces beer with a distinctive taste and body. Enjoy!
Heidelberg – One hour south of Frankfurt, visitors are irresistibly drawn by its magnificent Gothic-Renaissance castle. This pretty town is also known for The Great Vat is which holds about 220,000 litres!
Lübeck – A glorious Medieval town off the main tourist trails. It is a quiet alternative to the more spectacular attractions further south. The old town was heavily bombed in WWII, but has been sensitively rebuilt and the town's stately charm is apparent today.
