The province of Guanacaste is renowned for its breathtakingly beautiful beaches. Ranging in color from ivory white to shiny volcano black. Some are long, sweeping reaches of sand, stretching as far as the eye can see; others are secreted in windswept coves, disturbed only by pelicans or an occasional fisherman. Flamingo with its white sand beach and crystal blue water is considered the best along the Guanacaste coast. There is a North American community in the town of Flamingo itself; however, the nearby towns of Brasilito and Potrero are typically Costa Rican and this is where the homestays are located.
