Learning Portuguese abroad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Originally colonized by Portugal, Brazil is by far the largest country in South America. It is a country diverse in culture, landscape, and style. The country is covered by dense Amazon rainforest in the north and central regions. The coastal regions of Brazil offer some of the most famous and beautiful beaches in the world. Each city in Brazil has its own unique character ranging from the modern capital of Brasilia to the tourist capital of Rio de Janeiro to the port city of Maceio. Portuguese is the language spoken in Brazil.
Learn Portuguese Language in Brazil:
The second largest city in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro (pop. 10 million), is situated on the southeast coast of Brazil. The city is wedged between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Language travelers can have the best of both worlds in Rio. They can enjoy the big city atmosphere or relax on famous beaches such as Copacabana or Ipanema.
School Facilities:
The school has a central location in the business center and is close to museums and other cultural sites. The school's clean, modern and comfortable facilities occupy an entire floor and feature 10 classrooms with TVs and DVD players, central heat and air-conditioning, and computers with free Internet and WiFi. Right under the school is an amazing cafe where you can taste Brazil's most world-famous coffee.
Participants:
Mostly from the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia. The age mix includes university students, professionals, and independent travelers. Also, English is taught to locals.
Other:
Highly conversational teaching method. Use of specially designed interactive video laser discs is an important part of class.
