The day before I left, I was panicking because I didn't know whether my host mother knew when I was coming, and how could I tell her with my minuscule knowledge of the language? I called AmeriSpan: They were so friendly and helpful. The woman I spoke to had been to Lisbon and told me what she loved about the city. I felt much better. That phone call set the tone for the whole trip. It was wonderful. Thank you!

Lisbon is a great city to learn Portuguese. It is friendly, small and easy to get around by metro. The language instructor was great, and the teaching methods effective.
