Learning Spanish abroad in Barcelona, Spain is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. From its dazzling beaches to its ancient castles, Spain is a country as diverse as the cultures which have influenced its art, architecture, music and lifestyle. It is a land where cathedrals and castles are interspersed with skyscrapers, where modern rock mixes with flamenco guitar, and night clubs compete with cozy "tapas" bars. Spain offers some of the world's most famous museums, resorts, and festivals, making it a unique and enchanting destination.
Learn Spanish Language in Spain:
Barcelona, a city of 2 million, is literally bursting with art and culture. The colorful and intricate architecture created by the world famous Gaudi, the Gothic Neighborhood, and the pedestrian street “Las Ramblas” make this city a traveler and art lover’s paradise. Known as Spain’s second capital and host of the 1992 summer Olympics, Barcelona is a modern metropolis and cultural mecca. Located on the Mediterranean coast with mountains rising up behind it, Barcelona is the gateway from Spain to the rest of Europe. Both beach and ski resorts are within easy access.
School Facilities:
Newly renovated building with 54 classrooms, various terraces, cafeteria, 25 computers for students to use, library and video room. The building is wheelchair accessible and equipped with air-conditioning.
The school is very centrally located; close to the University (Universitat), only a 10 minute walk from the Plaza de Catalunya. It is 25 minute bus ride to a swimming beach, and 1.5 hours to the ski slope La Molina. Capacity is 500 students/day.
Participants:
Mostly form Europe, US and Japan. Wide age range.
Accreditation Memberships:
Member of FIYTO, BELTA, NAFSA, ALTO, UNION LATINA, AEEM, AMACFE & AECAE. Qualified by the CEELE (Certificate of teaching of Spanish as a foreign language). Accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the Swedish CSN and the German BILDUNGSURLAUB. Approved for academic credit by several US Institutions including Brookhaven College.

Program Additions & Upgrades:
* Private room upgrade: Add $40/wk for homestay, $70/wk for apartment, and $55/wk for dorm
* Extra lodging nights (max 3): $60/night for homestay and dorm or $75/night for apartment.
* Please note no extra days from Jun 1-Sep 1
* Private classes: $365 for the first 5 hours, then $55/hour (minimum 5 hrs/week)
Seasonal Surcharge (for 2008):
* If staying in apartment from 6/9-9/9 add $50/wk for shared room or add $70/wk for a private room
* If staying in dorm from 6/7-9/7 add $50/wk for shared room or add $60/wk for a private room
