Learning Spanish abroad in Jaco Beach, Costa Rica is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches, and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Columbian indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
Learn Spanish Language in Costa Rica:
Long known as the surf capital of Costa Rica, Jaco is an active beach town, attracting both foreigners and ticos alike. Jaco's proximity as the closest real beach town to San Jose makes it an extremely popular weekend destination for residents from the capital region. In addition to fantastic surf conditions, Jaco offers endless opportunities for water sports and other outdoor activities, as well as a bustling nightlife.
School Facilities:
Located in a residential neighborhood just 7 blocks from the beach, the school is within easy access of restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, bicycle shops and many more amenities around town. The converted house boasts 4 inside classrooms plus a terrace for more classes, a swimming pool and a 900 square meter tropical garden. The school offers a resource library, free internet access for students and many other things to keep students occupied after classes.
Participants:
Mostly ages 20-30 independent travelers; European or North American.
Other:
The school has a sister campus in Coronado (near San Jose) and it is possible to switch between the two if there is availability.
