AmeriSpan had the cheapest prices and there seemed to be a lot of variety in the field where I wanted to do some volunteer work.

Choosing this trip has been one of the best decisions I could have made. Running across AmeriSpan on the internet is something I consider to be the best of luck. The main advice I could give to future participants is to be open. There are so many interesting things you can learn if you are only open to learning.

Sarah W., Probation Officer

I loved this placement-fantastic!! I did not use BETA or EMS but it was reassuring ot know it existed. Pre departure info and phone interview was motivational, friendly, and I felt prepared for the classes and the project.

Marissa B., Student

Whenever I needed to call AmeriSpan I never had to wait very long on hold to talk to anyone and everyone was always helpful in answering my questions prior to my departure.

Lauren C., Student

I loved my placement experience. I taught piano to a small class of boys, and then my friend Alamara and I combined our classes to work on a little newspaper for the center. Although I was a bit surprised at first to discover how little supervision I had, the freedom helped me become more self-motivated and independent.

Living with a family made the transition into living in Peru a lot easier. My family (Paul and Magda Rodriguez) provided me with not only a stress-free environment to practice my Spanish, but also gave me essential tips about taxis, safe and not safe places to go and very comfortable lodgings.

Jennifer S., Counsellor
Placement in Costa Rica: 7/10/2006 - 7/28/2006

The Villalobos family [at my placement] was absolutely excellent. There was so much interaction and helping out with the family and their daily chores. AmeriSpan seemed to make it possible for myself and other individual travelers to construct the exact experience I was looking for.

Lance Q., Spanish high school teacher
Placement in Bolivia: 7/4/2006 - 7/7/2006

I would advise future participants to speak as much Spanish as they can while in Bolivia... and not to bring travelers checks.

My time in Costa Rica was full of fun, challenging, frustrating, sad and many many happy experiences that have really added to the person that I am. I would definitely recommend to people to take more classes because it is not only helpful in learning the language but it is where you will meet all of your friends for the time you are in the country.

Your staff was more helpful than others and AmeriSpan is cheaper than a University Study Abroad program. My program was more organized than I expected once I got in-country which was very comforting.
