This women’s center is based on the principle that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and have the rights to be not discriminated against for any reasons, including sex, race, religion, ethnic group and political stage. The main objective of the group is to fight against any form of discrimination and oppression against the women by promoting the education and esteem of women. Additionally, the group seeks partnership to build projects that can contribute to improve the economic condition of Nicaraguan women.
Volunteers can help organize activities and projects along with the counselors. They will help with organizing and supporting staff in the preparation and conduction of workshops to empower women. Volunteers can also participate in the administration of family planning methods including condoms, regular contraceptive pills and morning-after-pills).
Work Schedule: Varies. At least 20 hours per week
Location of Placements: Granada, Nicaragua and surrounding area.
Lodging: Volunteer Residence including 3 meals/day
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- 4th Year or Graduate Student of any focus
- Strong preference for those with experience in a medical science career (such as medicine, dentistry, nutrition, etc)
Important Things to Consider:
- 3 meals per day included during classes and placement
