Local hospitals in Kenya lack the resources and manpower required to provide proper care to their patients. Volunteers are urgently needed to assist doctors in rural hospitals and community clinics.
Tasks vary, depending on education, qualficiations, and prior experience. Most of the time volunteers will participate in counseling, visiting patients and their families, keeping patient records, and participating in public awareness projects. These projects include educating the public about basic health, nutrition, and santitation.
Work Schedule: 30-40 hours/week.
Location of Placements: Mombasa, Nairobi
Lodging: Host family
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 2 weeks.
- Minimum English level: Mid-Intermediate
- Patience and flexibility
Important Things to Consider:
- You may interact with HIV positive patients.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 3-5.
