Small clinics that assist people from the local community with their health needs, including: vaccination programs for children, first aid, talks about healthcare, dental care, etc. Central clinic located in Antigua.
Give vaccines and general nursing duties. Depending on medical experience and Spanish level, volunteers may be able to perform basic tasks such as taking vital signs, getting patient histories, etc. Volunteers will be able to use their specific area of medical expertise if needed.
Work Schedule: Generally Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm
Location of Placements: Santo Tomas Milpas Altas and Santa Lucia Milpas Altas
Lodging: Homestay or volunteer residence in Antigua
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 12 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: High-Intermediate
- Background in nursing or medicine STRONGLY preferred.
Important Things to Consider:
- The clinics are understaffed and underfunded.
- Very little supervision/support of volunteers.
- Volunteers must be able to assess a situation and find the best way to help.
- Very few resources/supplies.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 2.

*Santo Tomas Milpas Altas is 30 mins outside of Antigua.**Volunteer should bring basic medical supplies.
