This organization was founded in 1990 for the purpose of providing day care for the children of poor single mothers who work in the market. Since then it has grow into a well organized day care with over 60 children between 9 months and 6 years. There are ample facilities and a small staff. The children receive breakfast, lunch, and a snack. They are bathed and their clothes are washed. A teacher gives some basic classes. Medical attention available.
Help with the care, bathing and feeding of the children, and providing them with much needed attention. Volunteers also organize recreational and education activities.
Work Schedule: 7:45am - 12:00pm. Afternoons are optional. Most volunteers work in the mornings only.
Location of Placements: Antigua
Lodging: Homestay or Volunteer Residence in Antigua.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 2 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Mid-Beginner
- Experience working with children.
Important Things to Consider:
- Underfunded and understaffed. Volunteer must be able to work with very little supervision.
