Low-Income Public Hospital Ecuador Volunteer Placement

This is a public hospital located in the northern section of Quito that also gives medical attention to people of low income. They serve the public in the following areas: hospitalization, emergencies, trauma unit, gynecology, consultations, obstetrics, pediatrics, and X-rays.
In the hospital, there are a variety of areas with which the volunteer can work. It is important that the volunteer indicate the specific area with which they are interested in working. If they have knowledge of medicine, they should tell the staff that as well. This does not necessarily mean that volunteers have to have a certificate in medicine to be of service.
Work Schedule: Rotating schedule morning, afternoon, or night 5 hours per day. Monday-Friday.
Location of Placements: Quito
Lodging: Hostal (shared room, no meals). Homestay available at extra cost.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Mid-Intermediate
- Medical education and/or experience.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 2.
