The turtle projects are under the control of the Service of Protected Areas of the Ministery of Natural Resources. Three different projects organized to support the nesting of marine turtles in the Pacific coast. The main goal is the data collecting of the processes of turtle nesting in the areas and the construction of the infrastructure for this effect.
Volunteers accompany staff members on night patrols looking for turtles and protecting the nests. Once a turtle is found, the work is taking biometric data of the turtles and taking the eggs to the hatcheries. Volunteers also assist in the hatchery: cleaning, caring for turtles/eggs and recording data. And when the baby turtles are ready to leave, volunteers help in freeing them to the sea. Work also includes facility maintenance, construction or other duties defined by the camp management.
