Spanish Immersion in Costa Rica
Learning Spanish abroad in Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica is one of many language immersion programs offered by AmeriSpan. Known as the Switzerland of Central America, Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and is populated by a friendly, well-educated people. Costa Rica has obtained the highest standard of living in Central America by embracing democracy and disbanding its army. This small country is a paradise for nature lovers with national parks, jungles, volcanoes, beaches, and more water per square mile than any other country in the world, excluding New Zealand. However, the small pre-Columbian indigenous population was wiped out by diseases brought to the new world by the conquistadors.
Learn Spanish Language in Costa Rica:
The province of Guanacaste is renown for its breathtakingly beautiful beaches. Ranging in color from ivory white to shiny volcano black. Some are long, sweeping reaches of sand, stretching as far as the eye can see; others are secreted in windswept coves, disturbed only by pelicans or an occasional fisherman. Flamingo with its white sand beach and crystal blue water is considered the best along the Guanacaste coast. There is a North American community in the town of Flamingo itself; however, the nearby towns of Brasilito and Potrero are typical Costa Rican and this is where the homestays are located.
School Facilities:
Brand new building consisting of 6-7 classrooms. Five minute walk to the beaches of Potrero and Flamingo. Walking distance to the small town of Flamingo. Swimming pool. Maximum capacity is 100-150 students.
Participants:
Mainly university students and professionals from US and Canada. Some Europeans (mostly from Germany, UK, and the Netherlands).
Accreditation Memberships:
Approved for credit through several US institutions including: University of Southern Mississippi.
Other:
Additional campuses in Monteverde (in the mountains, by the Cloudforest Reserve), and in San Joaquín de Flores ( a few minutes outside of Costa Rica's capital). Accommodations with homestays. You may sign up for the Monteverde or/and San Joaquín de Flores campus when registering. Onsite changes usually require 2 weeks notice, $50 charge, and are based on availability.

Airport Pickup: $20
Airport Pickup Comments:
* No pick-up is available if not doing homestay.
* If you choose to receive an airport pick-up, you should plan to arrive to San Jose on the Saturday before classes start. You will be met at the San Jose airport and taken to a B&B/Hostel (not-included) and on Sunday students are transferred from the B&B/Hostel directly to their homestay in a private van service. The cost of the transportation is between $28 - $39 per person.
Program Additions & Upgrades:
* Extra homestay nights: $20/night, if 4 or more extra nights required then $150/week.
* Additional private classes $21/hour
