These programs teach Spanish and culture in order to facilitate effective communication between educators and the growing community of native Spanish-speaking LEP students and their parents.
The one or two week MAESTRO programs
include: Spanish immersion classes,
lectures/workshops, cultural &
educational site visits, chance to meet
with local educators, lodging & meals with local families, activities and excursions.
For those who prefer to stay longer, we
offer the option of adding as many extra
weeks, as possible.
MAESTRO programs are open to all educators, academic faculty
and those studying to be an educator.
Some programs are open to all Spanish
levels while others require at least a
high beginner level. If you are an
absolute beginner and wish to
participate in a MAESTRO program which
requires a minimum high beginner level, you can either 1) take a
pre-departure Online course called Working Spanish™ for Educators
Online or 2) register for an additional two weeks of in-country Spanish classes prior to the MAESTRO program start date.
What To Expect?
The MAESTRO program offers a unique opportunity to learn about a teacher-student and parent-teacher relationships as well as the education system in Latin America all
in the context of learning Spanish. Upon
completing this program you will have a better understanding of your Spanish-speaking
LEP student & parents, and improve
your ability to communicate with them.
