One Hundred Years of Solitude

Gabriel García Marquez, the Nobel Prize-winning Colombian author, with his long list of accomplished works has long been a favorite of the AmeriSpan staff. Strangely we had yet to review and recommend his most captivating novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude, until this moment.

The setting is the fictional town of Macondo, and is the foundation of a stunning tale of the many generations of the Buendias family. Marquez’s poetry style envelopes the lives, loves, and dreams of the characters bringing them to life with vivid passion and emotion. With a mix of turmoil, trouble and compromises Marquez takes us on a roller coaster ride of rise and fall, growth and decay, peace and war of a town and more importantly a family.
