Aterciopelados

There are many great Spanish language bands around right now. "Aterciopelados" hails from Colombia to feature the throaty lead singer, Andrea. Their album, Pipa de la Paz, although not their latest release (1997), is one of their best. The lyrics are smart and sexy with a mixture of alternative rock, reggae and folk with a splash of flamenco. My favorite: Chica Difícil. So infectious, you'll find yourself humming the tune all day. What a great way to practice your Spanish, especially popular phrases!

- Highly Recommended by AmeriSpan's Carol LaMastra
