Paris II Summer Camp

France is world-renowned for its rich history and spectacular cuisine. The landscape ranges from the high cliffs and rocky beaches in the north, to the resorts of the Riviera in the south. France’s beautiful countryside is abundant with vineyards and farms. Cosmopolitan cities and quaint towns make France a diverse country ripe in culture and charm.

Nicknamed “the City of Lights,” Paris is truly one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The Seine River runs through this capital city, which is made up of 20 districts or “Arrondissements”. Each Arrondissement has its own character and meaning for Parisians. The art, music, theatre, fashion, literature and architecture of Paris make this location a mecca for travelers from all over the world.

School Facilities: The Saint-Nicolas residential campus is conveniently located in southern Paris, in a quiet and charming district of Issy Les Moulineaux. The urban campus offers a comfortable lodging and study environment while allowing easy access to the most famous sites of Paris: the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, Notre Dame, etc. Participants are mixed, mainly from the US, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain and Korea. The facilities include: about 20 classrooms with audio-video equipment, a cafeteria, self-serving restaurant, sport facilities (for volleyball, basketball, etc) and a swimming pool. Participants will room in a dormitory located on the camp premise. Dormitory rooms are assigned according to age and sex and will have about 3-4 students per room. Accommodations are 4 beds to a room with shower and toilets located on each floor. 3 meals/day and a snack are included.

Activities/Excursions: Organized activities, excursions and sports are included. On arrival, participants register for a variety of activities of their choice. Activities may include but are not limited to: games, singing, acting, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, football, swimming pool, mini-golf, etc. The instructors and workshop leaders are all very qualified and run the activities in French, thus reinforcing the material covered during formal French lessons. The excursions offered are an opportunity to discover most of the important sights of Paris and the surrounding area, and participants are accompanied by instructors, teachers and often also by guides. One full day and 3 half-day excursions per week are offered and may include: Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre museum, the museum of Science and Industry “La Villette”, The Eiffel Tower, and more. An excursion to Disneyland Paris or Astrix park is also offered.

Lodging & Meals: Dormitory/residence with 3 meals/day + snack

Supervision: This is a very structured program with many activities. Participants are not able to leave the camp premises unaccompanied and must abide by camp staff rules and regulations pertaining to lights out, policies and procedures, etc. An entire team of camp employees including the language teachers will oversee the day-to-day care, activity and learning for each participant. Camp counselors coordinate the sports and activities that camp participants register for upon arrival and participate in. Additionally, the French instructors assist the camp counselors. Their participation in extra-curricular activities allows them to spend more time with the camp participants. The counselors and teachers will always accompany participants (ratio 1:4) on the excursions organized by the camp off of campus grounds. The Director of the summer camp is present daily to supervise the camp staff and ensure a safe and active learning environment for all camp participants. There are two different camp options in Paris. Daily schedule is about the same, facilities and locations vary.

To/From School: Language classes held on campus grounds.
