Delegate Scholarship
Overview:
AmeriSpan
Teenager
Delegate Scholarships are available for middle and high school study abroad programs that are 3 weeks or longer. These scholarships are available in all
teenager program locations. Upon completion of your program, you will need to submit a report/evaluation and will be required to act as an AmeriSpan Teen Delegate for one academic year. Further, to complete the scholarship requirements your parent/guardian will be required to complete our parent evaluation and serve as a reference for AmeriSpan Teenager Programs and services.
We
generally only grant 1-2
Teenager Delegate Scholarships
per location per semester or
summer. This will be determined on a
first come basis.
Requirements:

GPA
- You must presently be enrolled in a US high school and have a minimum of a 2.7 GPA (or equivalent).

Essay
- You must write & submit a
letter/email
(350 word max) explaining how/why you are qualified to be an AmeriSpan
Teenager Delegate.
Teenager
Delegate Responsibilities:

Blog
While Abroad - Submit at
least one blog a week while
abroad. Blogs can be 2-5
paragraphs and can discuss
any aspect of your
experience. The blogs may also be submitted in the form of a 2.5 to 6 minute video blog.

Detailed
Written Evaluation
- Upon completion (no later
than 21 days after program
end date) of your
program, you must submit a
detailed evaluation of your
experience and of the
program. This evaluation
should be a minimum 2-3 typed
pages and address things such
as: AmeriSpan's pre-departure
services, classes, facilities,
activities, excursions, lodging
and onsite staff.
- Completed Parent Evaluation & Reference - Upon completion of your child’s program, as parent/guardian you must complete our Parent Teen Program evaluation about your experience with AmeriSpan and your teenager’s program. In addition to the completed evaluation form parent/guardian must act as a reference for one year and be available to correspond via email with prospective teen program clientele and their parents/guardians.
- Photos
- You should plan to take
photos while
at the program. These photos are to
show prospective students what
the program is like and
should encompass the
facilities, classes, lodging,
excursions, the city and
country. A copy of these
pictures will be delivered to
AmeriSpan with the Detailed
Written Evaluation.

AmeriSpan Teenager Delegate
- You will act as an AmeriSpan
Delegate for at least one
year. This includes the
following:
- Organizing a meeting with your high school foreign language instructor(s) and AmeriSpan Representatives. This may be in the form of a telephone conference call.
- Organizing at least one meeting at your high school or public meeting place to share your experience with prospective students and their parents/guardians.
- Allowing AmeriSpan to make available your email address and your parents/guardians email to prospective students and their parents for 1 year.

Deadlines

The
deadline to apply for an
AmeriSpan scholarship is
prior to or at the time of
registration for your
AmeriSpan program.
Scholarships are awarded based on merit and/or need, on a first-come first-serve basis. Scholarships are not available after you have already applied and accepted to a program.

Special
Note -
You apply for more than
one scholarship but usually AmeriSpan only grants one
scholarship but if your
story or needs are great we
may grant more than one.
