Semana Santa
|
|
Semana Santa is the Spanish translation of Holy
Week (7 days ending on Easter Sunday) and is
celebrated throughout the Spanish-speaking
world. The thing we hear the most when our
staff and past participants describe Semana
Santa is "fun but exhausting".
In Antigua, Guatemala, our participants often join
in the celebration by assisting in the making of "alfombras".
This colonial city transforms its cobblestone
streets to elaborate and colorful carpets (alfrombas)
made of interwoven flowers and plants. Take
