Meet The School: Argentina, Italy and China
For nearly 20 years, AmeriSpan has been visiting, evaluating, and participating in language and volunteer programs. When evaluating schools, we look at many factors such as the teaching methodology, program make-up, facilities, teacher experience/education, lodging options and much more. In our experience the biggest thing we have learned that makes a school special are the people involved. With this in mind we have begun a new feature for our blog "Meet the School" where we interview and write about the staff at our partner schools, volunteer projects, etc. Check out our interviews with Founders/Directors at our programs in Argentina, Taormina, Sicily and Beijing, China.

Participant Insight: Blogs & Video Blogs
Another useful perspective is that of our past participants. It is kind of like a table of contents of participants blogs so that you can learn about their experiences... the good, the bad and the funny. We are confident that the new Participant Insight feature will allow you to better understand what to expect when choosing a program and destination. You can find the latest "Participant Insight" features on our Travel Resources page under Articles/Travelogues,.

Ecuador Coup Attempt and European Terror Alert
The news reports during the last 30 days have included a supposed coup attempt in Ecuador and the European terror alert for Americans to "remain diligent" when traveling in Europe. AmeriSpan never wants our participants to worry about financial penalties when making the decision to travel when if security or safety situations may change. In these cases we will allow last minute changes and cancellations with no penalties.

New Program: Pichilemu, Chile
Meet our new partner! The Spanish school in Pichilemu is run by American ex-pats Valerie Gaino Wilcox and Chris Wilcox, who opened the school five years ago after an inspirational surfing trip in Mexico.  The couple have succeeded in accomplishing their three-point mission of becoming fluent in Spanish, opening a business, and surfing as much as possible.  They rave about the small fishing town of Pichilemu and its relaxed atmosphere - a perfect setting for the "surfer vibe" they have achieved within their school.  Now with years of success and a new facility, it is a perfect time to visit Pichilemu and AmeriSpan is so glad to have found them when we did.  In addition to surfing and Spanish classes, students can arrange to receive college credit and even find additional activities on-site, like Vinyasa yoga!
