AmeriSpan offers Volunteer placements in Peru
PERU shares borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and the Pacific Ocean. The country has three distinct regions: A narrow coastal belt along the Pacific, the wide Andean mountains and the Amazon rainforest. Peru is renowned as the land of the Incas, but many great Pre-Columbian civilizations flourished. Visitors can see the ancient ruins of the Inca capital of Cusco and explore the lost city of Machu Picchu as well as ruins from a variety of other cultures, including the Nazca and Moche.
Volunteering in Peru gives you the opportunity to stay for a while in the fascinating city of Cusco. Cusco is not only the ancient capital of the Incas, but also home to magnificent examples of colonial architecture. At most projects you’ll work 4 to 6 hours per day, leaving enough free time to explore the endless sights. Examples of work you can do in Cusco are: Working in an orphanage, being a role model for at-risk youth, exercising and playing with handicapped children, or, to improve your language skills, chatting with the elderly. There are some professional opportunities in a travel agency and at a micro-credit agency.
