In Thailand, childcare is very expensive, and farmers, factory workers, and others with low income cannot always afford this service. To aid these families, local governments and Buddhist temples have founded public daycare centers for children ages 2-6. These centers are located near public schools, so that education may be integrated into the children's day, in addition to providing recreation.
Mornings will be spent at the daycare center, teaching the children to read, write, sing, play games, and dance. Volunteers should be prepared to create specialized lesson plans based on the different needs of the children. In the afternoons, participants will teach English at one of the local schools.
