This is a religious organization with the capacity of helping 65 girls, ages 6 to 18, who have been identified as being in a state of moral and material abandonment. They receive attention and education geared towards helping them form values and to prepare them for adulthood through workshops, lectures and specific training.
The volunteer may work as teachers' assistants, help children with their school work, organize workshops or activities depending on their specific skills and interest, reinforce math and language drills and give basic classes in English.
Work Schedule: Varies depending on the needs of the organization at the time.
Location of Placements: Cusco
Lodging: Shared apartment. Homestay available at extra cost.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- Specific interest in children and be willing to help them
- The ability to take initiative to organize special activities
- Creativity and organizational skills
- A great deal of energy and patience
