Pre-School Nicaragua Volunteer Placement

This pre-school center was founded in 1980 in order to provide basic schooling to kids living in one of the most underprivileged neighborhood in Granada. The center serves about 40 to 60 kids and helps working mothers to be able to study or work while kids are at the school.
Volunteers will teach English and Spanish; Organize programs for art, dancing and drawing; Foster women leadership and organizational efforts in the neighborhood among the single mothers, particularly, leadership skill building, negotiation and conflict resolution techniques. Those with special skills can organize programs in other areas.
Work Schedule: Varies. Schedule to be determined on-site. At least 20 hours/week.
Location of Placements: 1 KM from Granada City
Lodging: Volunteer Residence including 3 meals/day
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- 4th Year Undergrad or Graduate Student of any focus
- Preference given to those with experience in areas such as healthcare, dentistry, nutrition, nursing, women rights counseling, education, and others.

- Conditions are extremely basic.
