The orphanage is run by a Catholic religious order of Nuns. They are called Las Misioneras de la Caridad. The orphanage provides services to 50 girls at a time on average. The Misioneras work with young girls in issues related to social needs but also on healing psychological trauma and spiritual salvatio
Volunteers will work with orphans to help them overcome their traumas from physical and emotional abuses, create a friendly environment and grow the girls’ self-esteem. Volunteers support local Nuns, nurses and care providers; tasks range from observation to assistance. Tasks may include teaching English or vocational skills, organizing before and after school programs and assisting with fundraising projects.
Work Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Location of Placements: Granada, Nicaragua and surrounding area.
Lodging: Volunteer Residence including 3 meals/day
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- Female volunteers only
- 4th Year or Graduate Student of any focus
- Strong preference given to those with experience in psychology, counseling, or similar career.
Important Things to Consider:
- This is a Catholic organization, although volunteers do not have to practice any certain religion.

The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 3.
