Child Outreach Program Nicaragua Volunteer Placement

This center began as a soup kitchen for children in 2001. Since then it has served more than 200,000 meals. The organization has also evolved into a center for studying and learning a vocational occupation for all young people. At this school both children and teenagers can receive tutoring and medical services and take classes in vocational careers. The center also has fun programs for playing sports and learning to play musical instruments.
Volunteers can assist the youth center coordinator in a variety of tasks. Volunteers can also conduct training and support teen projects, Help children with their homework, participate in food distribution and teach English.
Work Schedule: Varies. At least 20 hours per week
Location of Placements: Granada, Nicaragua and surrounding area.
Lodging: Volunteer Residence including 3 meals/day
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- 4th Year or Graduate Student of any focus
- Strong preference for those studying medical science career (such as medicine, dentistry, nutrition, etc)
Important Things to Consider:
- 3 meals per day included during classes and placement
