Though Nepal is predominantly Hindu, it is the birthplace if Buddhism. Its influence can be seen throughout the country in the plentiful Buddhist temples. Kathmandu also houses several Tibetan refugees, living in exile. Volunteers interested in immersing themselves in the Buddhist culture are needed to teach English to the monks.
Participants will teach English to both monks and at the Tibetan Children's Village. In addition, volunteers will assist with arranging extra-curricular activities and administrative tasks. Morning and evenings are free, so it's a great time to join in the meditation, rituals, prayers, and songs. This is great for those who wish to surround themselves with Buddhist culture and religion
