Conservation Project Nepal Volunteer Placement
Options
- Full-time volunteer
- Internship
- Part-time volunteer
- Volunteer Only
Nepal faces many major environmental problems, such as deforestation, land fragmentation, and desertification. A community nursery program has been organized to combat this, by distributing indigenous tree seedlings, at no charge, to local farmers, schools, communities, and non-governmental organizations. Volunteers are needed to assist this nursery as well as local vegetable gardens that produce food for orphanages.
Volunteers will work in the nursery, preparing and caring for the seedlings. The work includes digging, preparing nursery beds, sewing seeds, weeding, pruning, and anything directly related to working in a nursery. In addition, participants may be required to plant, collect seeds, eliminate diseased trees, and take inventory of the flora and fauna. In addition, there is an orphanage and local school nearby, so volunteers may teach English or work in the orphanage in their freetime.
