Teaching Project Kenya Volunteer Placement
Options
- Full-time volunteer
- Internship
- Part-time volunteer
- Volunteer Only
Kenya currently suffers from a lack of teachers, due to greater personal opportunities elsewhere. Many teachers have transfered to Southern Sudan or Northern Uganda. Recently, however, the Kenyan government has begun providing free primary education, which has resulted in a surge in students in public schools, only furthering the teacher shortage. Volunteers are needed in mass in rural schools.
Daily tasks vary depending on the school you are placed at. Volunteers will mainly work in conjunction with another teacher, and will report to a head teacher. The school will provide both the curriculum to be followed, as well as the teaching materials.
