HIV/AIDS Project India Volunteer Placement
Options
- Full-time volunteer
- Internship
- Part-time volunteer
- Volunteer Only
In India, many people have a very limited knowledge about HIV/AIDS, especially in poor or remote villages. Though most people do not understand how it is transmitted or how to prevent transference, those who do become infected are ostracized from their familes and communities. This placement was created to provide an educational outlet as well as spread awareness of this growing epidemic. It also aims to change the public perception and treatment of those suffering from HIV/AIDS.
Volunteers will assist in counseling and education awareness. These organizations also treat HIV-positive people, so participants with a medical background may be involved with basic treatment. In addition, all volunteers will help train craft skills (such as wood carving or sewing), so that infected people may still have the opportunity to earn a living.
