Everyday Indians die due to lack of hospitals, clinics, or even doctors. In remote villages, there is a severe lack of resources and health information. Volunteers with a medical background can help combat this suffering by offering their time and effort to teach basic health and hygiene information at education centers, schools, and local organizations
Volunteers will aid and act as assistants to local doctors, where they will take record vital information, such as blood pressure, height, weight, etc. They may also participate in health camps, distributing medicine, educating villagers about health, nutrition, and santiation, and possible treating small wounds.
Work Schedule: 30-40 hours/week
Location of Placements: Dehli
Lodging: Hostel and/or host family
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 2 weeks.
- Minimum English level: Mid-Intermediate
- Medical certification, such as medical student identification, EMT certification, nursing creditials, etc.
- Placements will be in some of the poorest villages in India
Important Things to Consider:
- This placement is not open to students without medical creditials.
- Volunteers will not be performing major tasks, such as surgery.
- Placement depends on education, background, experience, and qualifications
Other Comments:
The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 3-5.
