Known throughout the world for their charitable work, the Red Cross provides various projects to improve the social, economical, and medical conditions in La Ceiba.
Placements vary dependent upon the volunteer's skills and interests. Your specific options will be discussed after your interview, but the projects mainly focus on helping the local community.
Work Schedule: Determined on site.
Location of Placements: La Ceiba
Lodging: Homestay
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- Caring and compassion.
- Nursing or medical education, or some knowledge of first aid.
Important Things to Consider:
- You will be working with other volunteers from throughout the world, so there will be a significant language barrier.
- Due to low budgets and severe staff shortages, best for self-starters and independent types of volunteers.
- We strongy recommend that part time volunteers commit to at least 4 weeks of classes/placement.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 3-5.
