Honduras Volunteer Placement

This placement allows volunteers to improve their medical Spanish, while at the same time working in a clinical setting. Though volunteers may not be able to directly treat patients, all aspects of working in a public hospital will be explored.
Observations will begin the second week of the course. Medical vocabulary will be explored, including parts of the body and instrument names. Volunteers will learn how to take a patient's history and diagnose ailments. There will be several themes for conversations, such as in a pediatrician's office or in an x-ray room.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4 hours per day with placement in the afternoon

Important Things to Consider:
- This placement is strictly observational.
- The doctors will be able to sign any university documents to prove that the volunteer participated in the program.
- Extra private lessons may be required on site if your Spanish level is not adequate.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of participants that this organization accepts is 3-5.
