This orphanage is helping at the present 22 children who are living in the 6-bedroom facility. All of the children have come into care due to severe abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Their stories are hard to hear: A sister and brother who experienced sexual abuse at the hand of their father and uncle, a child whose skull was cracked in a beating with a metal pipe, a little girl who was fed only bread and coffee for her first year of life, a boy abandoned at the hospital after being born with a cleft lip and palate, a child found wandering in the garbage dump, etc.
The volunteer may work as an assistant to provide the children with emotional, physical, and spiritual strength so that they may experience brighter futures, by helping to feed them, participate in activities with the younger children who do not attend school, hold babies, help children with their homework, read stories with the children, do calm activities with children, help children with all of their needs, etc.
