This organization is made up of about 35 day-care centers/kindergartens for children from poor families throughout the province of Sacatepequez (where Antigua is located). It is a non-profit organization sponsored by the government. The homes provide education, food, shelter and care for children (newborns to 7 year olds). The program aims to address the childcare needs of poor women as well as the levels of malnutrition and lack of preschool attention received by the poorest children in the city. Volunteers may work in several homes with about 10-20 children. Each site has a Social Worker that visits once or twice a week and a teacher that works on a daily basis from 8am to 3:30pm.
Various activities caring for children. Work as an assistant teacher with the kindergarten children, organize educational and recreational activities, teach hygiene, play with the children, help with the duties of the house and help the Madre Cuidadora when needed.
Work Schedule: Usually Mon-Fri, 9am - 4pm.
Location of Placements: Around Antigua
Lodging: Homestay (sometimes homestays closer to work are available)
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: High-Beginner
- Related experience.

- Very emotionally y physically demanding placement
- Daily commute.

The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 30.
