Private Forest Conservation Project Ecuador Volunteer Placement

This forest reserve came under the protection of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1982 and is now administered by a private foundation in Pasochoa. They conduct scientific investigation, ecological conservation, environmental education, recreational activities, and eco-tourism.
Both skilled and unskilled assistance is needed to assist in the above areas mentioned. Work depends on volunteer's skills and current needs of project.
Work Schedule: Varies depending on project.
Location of Placements: Pasochoa (56 km south of Quito - about 1 1/2 hours by bus)
Lodging: Homestay. Requires about an hour commute by bus. Upon arrival, it may be possible to arrange less expensive (approx. $60/week) but more basic housing.

Important Things to Consider:
- A long daily commute or very basic living conditions.
- Volunteers must take at least 1 week of classes in Quito.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of participants that this organization accepts is 5.
