This foundation is an NGO that was founded in 1989. Its primary objective is to promote biological research, environmental education, conservation of the tropical jungle and the management of biological resources. The organization has a strong team of professionals from a variety of disciplines who perform research and other work based on their skills. This organization has an extensive data base which serves as the most important single source of information in the field. The relative high quality of hardware and software has helped them become a leader in the field and a powerful influence in environmental research and education. The foundation has 4 different biological reserves in 4 distinct regions of the country.

Volunteers assist with reforestation projects, greenhouse work, community education initiatives, educational projects (nutrition, organic farming, economic development, crop rotation, etc.) and scientific research. Specific work varies depending on the park, the time of year and the interests and skills of the volunteer.

Work Schedule: Full-time.

Location of Placements: Various Parks throughout Ecuador

Lodging: Homestay during classes. Volunteer lodging during placement.


Requirements:
  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
  • Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
  • Related interest and experience.
  • Ability to live in remote areas.

Important Things to Consider:
  • Volunteers must take at least 1 week of classes in Quito.
