Founded in 1991 by concerned parents and residents of Monteverde, the school is a model bilingual school located high in the Tilaran mountains in central Costa Rica. The campus is surrounded by a tropical cloud forest and overlooks the Gulf of Nicoya. The school is committed to academic excellence with environmental education as the core of the curriculum. The goal is to encourage a generation of ecologically aware bilingual people. The student body is 96% Costa Rican and 4% North American.
Depends on interest and experience. Teacher, teacher's assistant, gardening, special courses. Volunteers without teaching experience will work mostly in the garden with occasional interaction with students.
Work Schedule: 7am-3pm, Mon-Fri. One week vacation every 3 months (to leave country in order to renew 90 day visa). Closed mid Jun-late July and mid Dec-late Jan.

Lodging: Homestay or Volunteer Residence
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: High-Beginner
- Must be committed, independent & responsible.
- Longer time commitments for teaching positions.
Important Things to Consider:
- Mostly English will be used for this placement.
- Little to no nightlife in the area.
