The Costa Rican government has established the national parks to help protect some of the most precious areas of land for people to enjoy for many years to come. The parks include a diverse range of locations including: Pacific and Caribbean coasts, Volcanoes, Tropical forests, and many other places as well. The Montezuma River is one of the most important natural attractions of the Nicoya Peninsula and a strong community has developed along the river. The national government provides support in this area through a variety of services. One such service is to teach English in the local schools.
Volunteers in this program assist with teaching English in the local schools. Volunteers with teaching experience may be able to run their own classes and initiate workshops or activities outside of class time. Others can assist in the classroom, tutor small groups and individuals and also assist with activities outside of class time.
Work Schedule: Varies. Schedule arranged on-site. Usually 08:00-16:00.
Location of Placements: Nicoya Penninsula (near the Montezuma River)
Lodging: Volunteer lodging in the park.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- Related teaching experience.
- Ability to take initiative and demonstrate leadership.
- Experience with living in somewhat remote areas.

The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 3.
