Disabled Children Independent Living Program Chile Volunteer Placement

With ten houses, this organization provides loves, care, and support to approximately 1,200 physically and mentally disabled children and teenagers. By focusing on each individual's special talents and interests, the project aims to integrate these children into working society. The overall hope that the children will learn that having a disability does not mean they cannot live and work independently.
Volunteers will assist teachers during class and monitor sports activities or performing arts workshops. In addition, participants will help with domestic tasks and assist in the library.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, morning or afternoon.
Location of Placements: Santiago
Lodging: Homestay during classes; volunteer lodging during placement.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 6 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Mid-Intermediate
- Volunteers should have previous experience in psychology, kinesiology, nursing, physical therapy, and/or dentistry.
Other Comments:
The maximum number of volunteers that this organization accepts is 1-2.
