This is a home for the elderly. It cares for about 48 people, 14 men and 34 women. The people in the home are poor, and most of them suffer from diseases such as Alzheimer, hypertension, arthritis, paralysis and broken bones.
Volunteers are needed to help with cleaning, bathing, physical therapy, rehabilitation exercises and to organize activities such as dances, crafts, sing-a-longs, etc. Volunteers also assist with activities outside of the center, as sightseeing outdoors.
Work Schedule: Varies. Both full-time and part-time help is needed.
Location of Placements: Sucre
Lodging: Homestay during classes. Volunteer lodging during placement.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Low-Intermediate
- A lot of patience, creativity and leadership.
- Compassion for the elderly.
- Related interests or experience.
