This experience takes place in a little village on the banks of the Beni River, which is located in Madidi National Park. This area is known for its abundance of biodiversity. It is 60 minutes by boat from the city center, and the village has about 235 inhabitants who are Tacani Indians that have historically lived along the shores of the Beni and Tuichi Rivers. They maintain their lifestyle through small commercial ventures such as hand crafts, fishing and agriculture. They also run an eco-tourism lodge that they built themselves.
Volunteers assist in a variety of capacities depending on skills and interests. They will learn to work in agriculture, such as planting rice and collecting fruit, and also learn different fishing and hunting techniques. In addition, volunteers are expected to play with the children of the community, teach English, play sports, help construct cottages and help tourists who are staying in the eco-tourism lodge.
