This is one of the key non-profit organizations in Bolivia. It is a well-establish organization that runs a variety of projects ranging from education to environmental awareness to medical assistance.
Volunteers assist in a variety of capacities depending on skills and interests. Volunteers can help as teachers' assistants, medical aides, nurses, companions for the sick, activities coordinator in medical settings, green house keepers, computer technicians, ESL teachers, companions for children and more. Most projects are in small villages and most are around Lake Titicaca. There are also possibilities in La Paz for web designers, photographers and journalists.
Work Schedule: Varies.
Location of Placements: Small villages around Lake Titicaca (2-4 hours from La Paz).
Lodging: Volunteers live in the house of the Director, where electricity and hot water are available.
Requirements:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks.
- Minimum Spanish level: Mid-Intermediate
- Ability to live in very remote areas.
- Experience in specific field of interest.
- Certified doctors, nurses, medical students (in their last year).
- Open mindedness.
- Creativity and desire to "work miracles".
