This center is an orphanage that serves one municipality of Sucre. It also serves children who have been abandoned or are at risk in their families. Most are between the ages of 5 and 18. All the children attend public schools and in the afternoon they return to the center where they have workshops in carpentry, shoe making, metallurgy and leather working. The idea is for them to develop a manual skill in case they are unable to enter a university in the future.
Volunteers are needed in the following areas: administration, secretarial work, psychology department, English professors and above all, people who know carpentry, shoe making, metallurgy and leather working. Also needed are those familiar with music, computers and/or sports instruction, such as: baseball, basketball and soccer.
