Study Abroad Fundraising Made Easier

Fundraising

AmeriSpan Study Abroad has launched an online Study Abroad Fundraising program.  Individuals and groups planning to go abroad with AmeriSpan may join the program for free.  To encourage participation, AmeriSpan is donating $50 to the fundraising drive of every participant who joins the program by April 15, 2011.  Donors also have the option to donate to a General fund and AmeriSpan will match every dollar donated.

The main purpose of the program is to turbocharge an individual’s fundraising campaign. Groups do a pretty good job fundraising for their trips abroad, but it can be challenging for an individual. Our program gives individuals a strong, experienced partner to help them meet their fundraising goals. By joining our program, they will be able to tell their story and connect with many more potential benefactors,” commented AmeriSpan’s co-founder John Slocum.

The organization will promote each member’s individual story and encourage past study abroad participants to contact fundraisers and make a donation.  Simultaneously, AmeriSpan has announced plans for a multifaceted 'Study Abroad Push it Forward' promotional campaign encouraging study abroad veterans to share stories about their own experiences and help someone else go abroad.  The target audience will include 35,000 past AmeriSpan participants, as well as other study abroad enthusiasts.

After joining the program, each fundraiser is required to submit their 'story' to be published by AmeriSpan. All members receive an online Study Abroad Fundraising account to track their donors and donations.  Moreover, AmeriSpan assigns a unique web link that can be pasted into emails, Facebook and personal blogs so that friends and family can easily and safely donate.  Donors can give as little as $10 via credit card or check.

“We believe that studying abroad is an eye-opening, life-changing educational experience that should be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Successful fundraising, our scholarships and financial aid are all important components to extending these opportunities to people who would not normally be able to participate because of the current economic environment,” summarized Lisabeth Lieberman, AmeriSpan’s Vice President.
