Cologne Junior Immersion

Germany is a historical yet modern country, split into sharply defined regions. Each region maintains its distinctive character with its own dialect, traditional dress and foods. Germany’s many modern cities stem from the time when it consisted of countless small states. North Germany has the delightful old seafaring ports, east is the beautiful cultural centers and south is the alluring Black Forest and those boisterous Bavarian beer halls. Along the Rhine and Moselle Rivers are picturesque castles and steep, terraced vineyards. From Frankfurt to Bremen runs a trail of villages that helped inspire the Grimm Brother’s fairy tales.

Cologne, Germany’s forth-largest city and the largest located on the Rhine River, is a wonderful mix of contemporary and classics Germany. The centerpiece of the city is the Gothic Cathedral of Cologne begun in the 13th century. Along with the Cathedral, the city hosts centuries old castles, ruins, and monasteries. Mixed in with the old, Modern Cologne offers world-famous museums, an active modern art scene, elegant shops, and sophisticated restaurants. The distinctive flavor of the city is often linked to its inhabitants, the Kölsche, who take an enormous amount of pride in their city.

School Facilities: The school is located in a quiet neighborhood in the northwestern section of Cologne. From here, students have easy access to the city and its most popular tourist attractions, shopping destinations, and restaurants via the interurban train.
