Maceio Independent Teen

Originally colonized by Portugal, Brazil is by far the largest country in South America. It is a country diverse in culture, landscape, and style. The country is covered by dense Amazon rainforest in the north and central regions. The coastal regions of Brazil offer some of the most famous and beautiful beaches in the world. Each city in Brazil has its own unique character ranging from the modern capital of Brasilia to the tourist capital of Rio de Janeiro to the port city of Maceio. Portuguese is the language spoken in Brazil.

Maceio is a port city located on the east coast of Brazil and is about a 2-hour flight north from Rio de Janeiro. It is the state capital of Alagoas and is best known for its tropical lagoons and beaches. Because Maceio is largely undiscovered by foreign tourists, it is a great destination for language students seeking an authentic immersion experience.

School Facilities: The school is located a 5-minute walk from the beach. Two buildings separated by a lush garden with 10 classrooms, a kitchen and common area. Capacity of 50 students/day. Students stay in a homestay with breakfast and dinner included daily.

Activities/Excursions: Available at additional cost.

Lodging & Meals: Breakfast and dinner daily with host family

Supervision: Please note this is an UNSUPERVISED PROGRAM. Maceio is an adult program that will accept teens age 16-18. This program is for mature, independent teens who understand along with their parents/guardians that supervision will not be provided and the will be treated like mature, independent adults by school staff and host families.
