Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB)

UAB has 4 campuses with over 43,000 local and international students (1,100 study aboad). Study abroad students will take classes at two central campuses, Sant Pau and Eixample. Campus Sant Pau is in one of Catalonia’s Modernist buildings within the 'Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau'. The neighborhood is both centrally located yet quiet, which makes it ideal for university students. The Exaimple district is home to Sagrada Familia and Casa Mila, some of the most famous of Gaudi's works and the campus is located right by the Passeig de Gracia, one of the best places for shopping in Barcelona. Students can easily access the main campus, Bellaterra from Plaza Catalunya by way of the famous Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat.

This program allows students of all Spanish levels to learn Spanish while receiving university credit for electives in areas, such as Social Sciences, Humanities, Economics and more. Electives are taught in Spanish an English. It is the responsibility of those students choosing to elect courses conducted in Spanish to determine their language capabilities. Students must have a minimum level of B.1.2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference.

Facilities

Both the Sant Pau and Eixample campuses are centrally located and offer access to libraries, computer labs, cafeterias and other campus facilities. They are also well communicated with the main campus, Bellaterra, just outside of Barclona’s city center, which provides all kinds of services, such as libraries, bookstores, language-learning center, sports facilities, restaurants, health center and other shops.

Participants

Study abroad students are from: 60% USA, 25% Europe and 15% Asia.

Accommodations

Students have the option of living with Spanish families in homes throughout Barcelona. Living with a host family provides one of the most efficient ways to practice Spanish. Students are included in all family activities, providing integration on a social and cultural level.
Students may also choose to live in shared or private room (additional cost) in a fully-furnished student apartment or dorm located near campus. Please inquire for prices.
