Ruta Valparaiso (Day trip through Valparaiso)
This day excursion takes students on a walking tour of the Concepcion and Alegre hills. This area is known for its lively artistic culture and international appeal. The architecture in Valparaiso is extremely unique with its tall sheet-metal houses that climbs up steep, winding slopes. A solution to climbing these hills is to take one of the many funiculars, which is just what students will do on this tour. The tour also includes a boat trip in South America's most important bay. Valparaiso was named a UNESCO World Heritage site, and students will see why during this picturesque tour.
-
Isla Negra
Isla Negra, Pablo Neruda's Pacific Ocean house, is even more outlandish than La Chascona in Santiago. It sits on the edge of the ocean, where Pablo's grave overlooks the tide. Now the home of Museo Neruda, this house was once vandalized and boarded up by the military government. Some of Neruda's most fascinating collections can be found here, including bowsprits, ships-in-bottles, nautical instruments, woodcarvings, colored glasses and bottles and other memorabilia.
